UI Artist

Mediatonic are looking for an agile, organised and highly talented UI Artist to deliver content for our Live Operations - the fast-paced stream of themed content that provides our players with exciting new game modes every day.

The successful candidate will be able to conceive and deliver exciting digital artwork within tight technical specifications. Artwork, which will bridge both illustration and more traditional graphic design, will need to deliver on themed briefs that are delivered at fast pace, requiring an artist that is versatile in style and able to work quickly and reliably whilst being thorough in checking technical compliance. Where appropriate, some work may be sent to outsource partners, and the successful candidate must be confident in managing this relationship and offering feedback remotely.

We are open to applicants at all levels of experience for this role, which presents an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to stretch their creative muscles in a high performing mobile environment.

Responsibilities

As UI Artist your primary function will be to produce quality artwork to service the event schedule within our games. You will be able to demonstrate strong illustration and graphic design skills and will be very organised, with a keen eye for technical detail. Your art style will be versatile and adaptable and able to deliver a charming, family friendly aesthetic. 

Requirements

A UI Artist has a demonstrable talent shown in a solid portfolio. They are able to show a solid understanding of their discipline and an appreciation of what they've yet to learn with an ambition to improve. They are hard working and dependable. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to to design UI for Video Games
  • Demonstrated, solid foundation in art fundamentals
  • Demonstrated understanding of composition and visual hierarchy for improved UI
  • Proficient with generating ideas/concepts/thumbs in 2D
  • Portfolio showing strong skills in illustration
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g. Adobe CS)
  • Keeps up with industry trends and techniques
  • Avid follower of interface design trends 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with a consistently positive attitude
  • Ability to liaise with outsource partners and feedback to them.
  • Avid player of games 

Desirable skills:

  • Proven ability to take direction from a brief
  • Able to self critique, receive and digest feedback to improve work 
  • Eager and motivated to learn best practices
  • Avid follower of Visual Design trends; collector of reference and analytical user of Video Game UI 
  • Demonstrable willingness to get involved in the creative conversation
