2D Concept Artist


Who are we? 

We are a new studio based in Guildford, UK, dedicated to building innovative and creative games. By spring-boarding from parent company Mediatonic’s wealth of experience and connections, we’re growing quickly and pouring heart and soul into developing exciting titles that provide players with surprising, polished and high-quality experiences that are able to cut through a crowded marketplace.

We are looking to hire highly-motivated and talented individuals with the passion and skills to deliver premium-quality games from day one, while growing as part of a small team working with original properties and highly-acclaimed IPs to create a world-class games studio.  

We are small but so far have a 100% success rate of hiring extremely talented and likeable staff, and we very much wish to keep the perfect record running.


This is a highly influential role at a small and rapidly growing studio. This is the first and most significant art role we are advertising.

As 2D Concept & Game Artist you will use your expertise in art principles and software to take responsibility for creating high-quality original artwork that will form the backbone of  the studio’s initial releases.

You will be able to take high-level creative direction, estimate, schedule and produce artwork as fitting depending on the stage of development, and work within a close-knit team to establish processes and best practices for current projects and future expansion.

Key Responsibilities

As 2D Concept & Game Artist you have an arsenal of direct experience to call upon. You are highly professional and a proven experts in their field, and in addition you:

  • Possess a comprehensive portfolio showing wonderful examples of your craft
  • Are highly capable of creating compelling artwork in a range of styles  
  • Are expert in computer-based illustration applications (Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proactively take on responsibility for pushing the quality of your craft and your own self-development  
  • Explore and define interesting styles for new projects
  • Evaluate briefs quickly and ask the best questions you can, as early as possible
  • Offer well thought-through art options based on proper research, reference gathering, visual investigation and development
  • Generate original, high-quality production art and final quality key art
  • Communicate effectively both to groups and individuals


  • Can provide examples of being a trusted, valued team member
  • Have multiple examples of high-quality work
  • Are experienced in game development (in an ideal world)
  • Manage your time carefully and conscientiously
  • Estimate tasks as accurately as possible and are able to communicate your reasoning where needed
  • Are competent with tracking/scheduling software (or very, very willing to learn)
  • Stay calm and objective in challenging situations
  • Think laterally and provide creative solutions to challenges
  • Know the mechanics and technical terms for your craft, but can use common language and shared references in discussions
  • Can recognise an extraordinary opportunity to join a small team as a in a key role helping it to grow into a studio to be proud of when you see it

 About Fortitude

We are a small studio in the heart of Guildford working on flagship titles to put Fortitude on the map.

Our staff includes multi-BAFTA nominated talent and games expertise spanning more than 10 years. We have a close and highly-developed working relationship with parent company Mediatonic and their extensive network and support, meaning that we are taking on large-scale challenges and growing more rapidly than would otherwise be possible.
